What is commercial fuel?
An essential part of many businesses and construction sites, commercial fuels are liquid, solid or gaseous fuels used in combustion or fuel-burning equipment. This could be for the purpose of creating heat, getting machinery moving or powering vehicles, each crucial to countless industries.
There are many different types of commercial fuels, all with their own purposes and uses. At Fuelsource, we supply a wide range of these key fuels, each equally as important as the last, straight to your site. Keen to learn more about the different fuels we offer? Let’s talk about our options.
DERV (Diesel Engine Road Vehicle Fuel)
Also known as White Diesel, this fuel is used for road vehicles powered by diesel engines. It is suitable for all diesel-powered engines, helping your vehicles get where they need to go for your business. This fuel is also a great reliable choice for heavy goods transport vehicles.
Commercial Furnace Heating Oil IHO (Industrial Heating Oil)
Developed as a replacement for gas oil, commercial furnace heating oil (Ultra 35) is used for heating. It has a slower burn rate than standard gas oil, is suitable for all large-scale heating systems and is more financially economical, making it a great option for your business.
Another benefit to switching to IHO is that you don’t need to drain the existing gas oil in your tank and no modifications are needed to prep you for this industrial heating oil.
Carbon Offset Diesel
Through Fuelsource, this carbon offset diesel has net zero emissions. We have worked with our suppliers for this, through a range of environmental initiatives that include reforestation, carbon capture and renewable energy investment to reduce CO2 worldwide.
This diesel is a reliable fuel source for use in many industries and is fully suitable for all diesel engines.
Red Diesel
A very common commercial fuel, red diesel gets its name from the red dye used to make it easily identifiable. This fuel is for many off-road uses and is used in industries such as agriculture, horticulture, mining and construction. Red diesel, also known as gas oil, is also used for heating and for powering diesel generators.
Kerosene
Kerosene is also known as paraffin, heating oil, and 28 second oil, and is commonly used in domestic and commercial heating, as well as the aviation industry. With its clean burning characteristics, low viscosity, long storage time and versatile uses, kerosene is an ideal fuel for many.
HVO Fuel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil)
A second-generation renewable gas oil alternative, using HVO fuel for your machinery reduces your greenhouse emissions by 90%. This brilliant conventional oil alternative is completely renewable, synthesised from vegetable oils or animal fats. Hydrotreated vegetable oil is FAME-free and can help you reduce your carbon footprint while being a reliable all-year-round choice.
Marine Gas Oil
Also called bunker fuel and bunker oil, this fuel is used in seagoing vessels. It is FAME-free, has an ultra-low sulphur content, and is suitable for use in most marine vessels. This fuel is similar to diesel but with a higher density.
‘Bunker fuel’ is named due to old steam-powered ships storing their fuel (coal) inside bunkers onboard the ship. Nowadays they have fuel tanks instead of bunkers, but the name has stuck.
